Team Fundraising

Oregon MS150 Bike Tour 2000 Top Fund Raising Team
For the second year in a row, Team Wanta was awarded the MS150 top fundraising honors for raising $35,292 for Multiple Sclerosis - more than 15% of the total ride pledges raised of $225,500.

Again we made significant strides increasing our year-to-year results by increasing our total funds raised by over 50% vs. 1999 while increasing our team size by 60% to 48 from 30 riders in 1999.

Major kudos to our Team Wanta top fund raiser - by raising $6,000, Suzanne Newfield placed third in overall MS150 fund raisers.  You are an inspiration to us all!

Additionally, we continue to expand our list of top individual fund raisers as well.  10 Team Wanta riders made it into the Golden Gears Club (see list below) individually raising pledges exceeding $1,000, and 8 Team Wanta riders made it into the Top Banana Club (see list below) individually raising pledges exceeding $500.

2000 Route Summary
The MS150 Bike Tour 2000 started and finished on the Oregon State University campus August 5th and 6th in Corvallis.

The route traced an 80-mile (1,970' elevation) southern loop the first day, which skirted the edges of Finley Wildlife Refuge, and then headed back to Corvallis.  The second day featured a 77-mile (3,320' elevation) northern loop through the scenic wine country of Polk and Benton counties, passed through Kings Valley, and bought riders back to the finish line in Corvallis.  A half ride option was also be available covering approximately half the mileage each day.

Along the route at regularly placed rest stops, friendly volunteers supplied riders with beverages, snacks, and lunch.  Back in Corvallis, organizers provided hot showers (yeah!), massages, meals and entertainment to top off the ride.
